💔 Why Cuba Was Everything

2023 REPEAT after me the WORST YEAR of my LIFE. No job (thanks, Ghana), I was having a hard time, no sleep, and stress through the roof. Then came August… and Cuba. That trip — and the people on it — gave me my laugh back, my energy back, and reminded me why JetLife even exists.

Five nights in Havana’s most beautiful hotel. Rooftop bars where the city glowed at night. Views that made you forget the world was still spinning.

We kicked things off with cigars and rum, then slid into the backseat of vintage cars for the kind of ride where the streets feel alive. Everywhere we went, music was playing and the air felt heavy with history and pride.

The Afro-Cuban Tour wasn’t just a history lesson — it was real, raw, and heavy.

Then there was the Spiritual Tour, where we learned about Santa María and how African traditions survived under the cover of Catholic saints. It’s one thing to read about Santería. It’s another to stand in the place where it lived and breathed.

🌙 Havana Nights — JetLife Style

We ate lobster, chicken (always some damn chicken), laughed ‘til I peed, danced on rooftops, and smoked cigars like we owned the city. Good food, good energy, good people — that’s JetLife.

We dined at Havana’s best.
We zipped through the streets on bicycle trolleys handing out food.
We smoked cigars on the rooftop, played our little speaker, and laughed until I peed on myself every single night.

And because I’m me, there was a photographer. I wanted my flying dress moment, and just so happened to have a model in the group who shut the whole scene down.

So we’re setting up in Havana, and I ask her, “You need help with the poses?” She looks me dead in the eye like, “NAW… I’m a model in real life. Just hand me those sunglasses.”

Baby… when I tell you she ATE every. damn. photo. Havana didn’t stand a chance. Between the wind catching her dress just right and her hitting angles like she was born on a Vogue cover, I was just standing there like, Welp… guess I’m the assistant now.

✨ Looking Back

Looking back on 2023 — where I was then and where I am now — is like night and day. Running a business is the absolute most difficult job you can ever have. Shout out to all the entrepreneurs out there holding it together when nobody sees the behind-the-scenes.

Cuba 2023 came at a time when I needed it the most, and the people on that trip will never know just how much they helped me keep going.
