🔄Lets Get Ghana out the.... Way 

Everybody’s been asking:
“Marie, can we do Ghana next?”

Listen… I’ve been to Ghana three times. And in 2022? We did our thing. Hands down — probably the best group Ghana experience that’s ever been done. From the events to the energy to the execution? We nailed it.

But behind the scenes? Ghana left me defeated.

From a business owner perspective, it was one of the most logistically draining vacations I’ve ever pulled off: And I am still healing from it .

❌Why Ghana Isn’t on the Calendar Right Now

• Too many moving parts with too little consistency
• Lack of reliable 5-star hotel partners
• Infrastructure issues that slow everything down
• Not ideal for first-time international travelers
• And the stress? Baby, I’m still recovering

Will we go back? Yes. But only after I do another site visit and know for sure I can deliver the JetLife Experience with ease.

⏮️Flashback: South Africa 2018/2019

After Egypt 2017, folks were begging for South Africa. Me? I said:
“Okay bet… I just wanted a free vacation anyway, so let’s run it.”

I went to a tour operator, got a quote, and — being green and brand new — I said yes without forecasting flights (rookie mistake). She quoted me $2,000 including flights, I charged $2,200. DUMB ASF.

When flights dropped, they came in at $1,200 each… which meant I was negative $800 per person. Did I go back and ask for more? No. I emptied my savings, paid for the flights, and kept it moving.

If you ever wondered why sometimes I looked sick, dazed, and confused during those early trips… now you know.

🛬On the Ground: Johannesburg

Two hotels — a 4-star and a 3-star. And that 3-star? Baby, rooftop bar and city views for days.

This trip also taught me: No one under 18 on international JetLife trips. Some countries require both parents’ consent for minors to travel. I had to fly one guest back to NYC mid-trip to get paperwork and then fly them back to South Africa.

🥂 The New Year’s Eve Party: JetLife Royalty

Makeup artist in Johannesburg? AMAZING. Big personality, messy love life, the kind of energy that makes you sip your champagne slower.

He asked if he and his boyfriend could come to the NYE party. Of course.

We rented one of the best clubs in Johannesburg (Beyoncé and Jay-Z had just been there a few weeks earlier).

They were greeted with champagne and appetizers. Theme? Wakanda Forever. And they ate the looks UP.

Bar was open. Band was lit. Djuan hosted. Cigars were passed. A famous South African rapper showed up.

And yes — the makeup artist showed up with the boyfriend. It was giving what it was supposed to give.

📱 The Stolen Phone

Right before the NYE party, one of my customers had her phone snatched straight out of her hands while getting on the bus. Yes, minutes before the big event. 

💄 The Makeup Artist + Boyfriend Energy

They showed up, looked flawless, and brought just enough drama to keep the energy up. Every group trip needs that one wildcard duo — they were ours.

🍷 Cape Town’s Red Wine Club

This started over a random bottle of wine and turned into a full-on travel crew. People still talk about it.

💰 The 7-Cent Argument

Yes, someone almost came to blows over seven cents in Cape Town. SEVEN. I’ll just say the wine may have been flowing a little heavy that day.

In Johannesburg, several guests got readings. I got one too. She predicted my last boyfriend to a T. (She left out some things though — they always do. 👀)
