Now listen… yesterday I said Cuba was in my top 5, but Cancun & Tulum? Yeah, you’re absolutely one of my favorites too
And let’s be clear — I’m speaking from a business perspective. A great vacation for me is when everybody’s happy. And I mean erbody. Some folks? I could hand them Beyoncé tickets, a winning lottery number, and a glass of 1942, and they’d still find a way to be mad. But when the whole group is a vibe? That’s my jam. Still, #1 is Thailand because nothing — and I mean nothing — not even being bipolar — will stop you from having the time of your life there.
💡 The Pivot That Paid Off
In 2021, we were supposed to go to Amsterdam, but COVID had other plans. So I pivoted to Cancun & Tulum. And during COVID? Cancun was wide open. I was going all the time. First-class tickets were $150 round trip and hotels were around $125. Basically, it was cheaper to go to Cancun than to go to Publix and buy groceries.
✨ The Itinerary Was Giving FABULOUS
Because I was basically a Cancun local at that point, I had to make our “pivot vacation” over-the-top:
- Rosa Negra in Cancun (the Tulum one is trash, trust me).
- Kin Toh in Tulum — the treehouse in the sky restaurant.
- Cenotes for that jungle swim.
- Goodbye Party because JetLife doesn’t just wave goodbye — we celebrate it.
✈️ We Started With Spirit (and Not the Good Kind)
Day one, one of my customers booked Spirit Airlines (pray for her). Something happened with her flight — I still don’t know if it was canceled or abducted by aliens — but I got her rebooked the next day. Met her with a cocktail in hand like the travel fairy godmother I am.
That first night? Hot tub party. It was giving “neighbor’s gonna call the front desk” energy.

📸 Kin Toh — Treehouse in the Sky
The following day we went to Kin Toh in Tulum. Picture a restaurant built high above the jungle canopy — treetop seating, stunning architecture, and the kind of sunset that makes you forget you even ordered food. We wore white and yellow and looked like a walking luxury resort ad. I can’t even tell you if the food was great, but that sunset? Burned into my brain forever.
💦 The Cenote Crew
The group went ATV riding and swimming in the cenotes — those magical freshwater sinkholes Mexico is famous for. Me? I stayed at the hotel, took a nap, and had cocktails like the proud vacation mom I am.
🛥 Oh Yeah… The Yacht Moment
How did I almost forget this? We had a sunset yacht party. Now, I can’t remember every detail (because clearly, cocktails were involved), but I do remember stepping on board like we were filming a music video. Fresh fruit platters, champagne flutes ready, and that “we outside” energy in full effect. Giving “welcome to your rich auntie era”.
Airport Drama (Because of Course)
Now, no JetLife trip is complete without a little chaos. At breakfast, I see John and Tony sitting there all relaxed. I say, “What are you doing here? Your flight leaves in 2 hours!” They look at me like, “Huh?” I called my driver, threw them in the car, and because I was flying first-class, so I got them through the Cancun airport line FAST — which, if you’ve been, you know is basically a Hunger Games arena. They made it just in time.

I loved Cancun & Tulum so much, I’m bringing it back next May —2 nights Cancun + 2 nights Tulum for those of you who keep asking for shorter trips.
