Journaling 8 Years please Bear with me 🫶🏾

Hey y’all… bear with me. I’m journaling JetLife — 8 years in the making.

Apparently, I was supposed to be writing blogs every week to boost SEO, but instead of doing it the easy way (AI), I wanted to tell the stories myself. At least for the countries we’ve visited.

And baby… Greece got stories.
Ancestors whispering: “Perk, wake up and pay attention…”

GREECE WASN’T EVEN ON MY LIST 🌊

Let’s keep it real: Greece was never on my radar. I’m a Bangkok, Thailand please and thank you type of girl.

But everybody and their mama — including my mama — wanted Greece. So I said, fine. I’ll put together a JetLife Greece vacation… eyes closed, nails long, with Rick Ross’s “Santorini” video as my only reference.

SURPRISE GUESTS & SARDINES 

After Paris, I roll into Athens. Hotel: massive. Guests start trickling in.

Now, me being me, I decided to spice it up. I invited two of my favorite tour leaders — Prince from Egypt and Nat from Thailand — to fly in as a surprise. Not to work… just to hang out.

Athens was cool. I met some amazing people for the first time. I also got hooked on sardines like they were Pringles. One night turned into a full‑blown slumber party in my room — wine, conversations, laughter. A vibe.

DINNER IN THE SKY & A WARNING I IGNORED 🌅

Dinner in the Sky” is exactly what it sounds like — dining suspended in the air over Athens.

Yes, I’m scared of heights. Yes, I still did it.
The trick? They get you drunk before strapping you in.

We had two tables during sunset — magical. My aunt was scared, my mom was drunk, and we was in the clouds (literally and spiritually).

Then… the first table comes down, and one of my guests gets emotional. I don’t know if it was the wine, the thin air, or the ancestors grabbing the mic mid‑meal, but she pulls me aside like she’s about to spill a classified government file.

She says:
“Perk, you don’t need bleep‑bleep‑bleep. You can do this yourself. My room is right next to theirs and they talk sh*t about you ALL NIGHT. F them.”

Her friend swoops in and drags her away like, nothing to see here.

And me? I’m standing there strapped into a harness like… what in the Greek soap opera just happened?

I laughed it off at the time, but in hindsight? That wasn’t just wine talking — that was a message.

ACROPOLIS TOUR 🏛️

Next up: Acropolis tour.

Hot. As. Hades.
We walked, we climbed, we sweated. I was this close to passing out until I found fresh lemonade like it was the fountain of youth.

Everyone loved it, but the main highlight was surviving without fainting.

SANTORINI: WHERE THE REAL TEA IS

Santorini was gorgeous. Blue domes, perfect views, but also… the whispering started.

The Night Out 💃🏾

We had a night out. Met a guy with a very long mustache (total vibe). Drinks were flowing, music was right…

Then someone leans over mid‑turn‑up and says:
“Perk, everybody’s mad about that extra $50 for the party. You should’ve included it.”

Now mind you… this trip was $1500 per person. $1500!
I still laugh at myself for even letting that be a thing.

The Catamaran 🛥️

Next day: Catamaran day.

Everyone in their white JetLife T‑shirts, Greece’s blue water as the backdrop.
We barbequed on board, danced, played cards.

Fun fact: My friend John brought his girlfriend… this was the last time he was in a relationship. Apparently Greece ruined it. (We’ll circle back to that in Behind the Scenes.)

The All‑White JetLife Party 💃🏾

Final night: the All‑White Party.

This was the party everyone was supposedly mad about… but I think that was a rumor because when I walked in early, that venue was STUNNING.

Sat on a hill overlooking JetLife Black Sand.

Here’s where I discovered Djuan isn’t a DJ — more of a “hype man with access to equipment.” (Another Behind the Scenes topic.)

Guests arrive. They’re handed champagne, “That’s The Way Love Goes” (the JetLife theme) is playing. It’s giving… magic.

Champagne. Appetizers. Pictures. Shout out to Dove Photography — they nailed it.

If I could change two things:

• Circle tables (too clicky)
• The DJ situation

Still, in JetLife Party history, this was Top 5. Solid #5.

MARIE’S TAKEAWAYS FROM GREECE

1. People can’t always see your vision. 
2. Will we go back? YES. When the algorithm says it’s time.
3. The food in Greece? Fresh, simple, and some of the best I’ve ever had.
4. Circle tables? Retired. Rectangle only from now on.
5. Drama? It’s just part of the JetLife experience. (And that’s fine — keeps the memories spicy.)
6. Catamarans + Champagne = instant group therapy.
7. Don’t bring your relationship if it’s shaky. Greece will test it.

MARIE’S GREECE TRAVEL TIPS

• Pack light. Santorini stairs will humble your suitcase.
• Hydrate like it’s a job. Wine + heat = danger.
• Budget extra for “unexpected” expenses. (That one event you think you’ll skip? You won’t.)
• Comfortable shoes. The Acropolis is not for heels.
• Watch the wind. Santorini will have your dress and hat in the air like a Beyoncé video.
• Eat local. Sardines, gyros, fresh Greek salad — you didn’t come for fries.
• Hotel rooms are smaller. But the views? Everything.
• Sunscreen & shades. Your selfies will thank you.
• Book activities early. Catamarans and Dinner in the Sky sell out.
• Respect siesta hours. Shops close midday — plan your shopping.
